Tomorrow: You Will Disappear, and So Will I

Shot in 2025 on the coast of Arcachon, France, the series explores the fragile coexistence of space, time and disappearance.

Arcachon, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, is a landscape where sea and land are constantly changing their boundaries. Sand islands appear and disappear, and the horizon never remains fixed. The highest sand dune in Europe is located in Arcachon. This geographical setting is transformed into symbolic and inspiring motifs in KetoMa’s new series. The scale of the place and its constant movement represent the landscape as a living sculpture, where stability is only a temporary illusion. It is in this unstable space that the photographer transforms the environment into a state, rather than documenting it.

For the author, the Arcachon Sea is a memory - an imagination not of a specific moment of geographical travel, but of the bodily and spatial dimension of the border. The sea… the border… the disappearance, dissolution and approximation of clear contours brings us closer to a more subtle meta-state. And the existence of a person brought to the point of almost disappearance is fixed pointwise. This is an encounter with the eternally sensitive nature of being, transience and aesthetics.

In the photo series, by observing the images that differ from each other in small details, the viewer will gradually feel an insignificant but decisive moment of change. The feeling of sand, the smell of the sea, the slow dissolution of color paradoxically intensify the illusory optical dimension, where disappearance is not an end, but a state.
